The Scoop on Lori Brough at Pure Photography

I love what I do enough to withstand the crazy scheduling that comes with being a pro-photographer for 8 years. I love chocolate just about as much as I love my cup of java. I prefer quality over quantity, hiking over running, water over pop, family over work, laughing over crying, sushi over a big mac, and last but not least Canon over Nikon (I love that one).

You can find me running all over town for location shooting, but lets face it, we have long winters. My home serves as my studio. You don't just get a cool casual look for your images, on a good day, you get cookies and milk too.

If you want to keep up on what's going on, my latest gigs, and the new promotions ... check back often and enjoy the images of people that grace my studio every week!

Live Love Laugh ... Lori Brough

The Jones’

I just couldn’t resist … with a last name like Jones, how can you not think of the movie.  No hidden agendas here though, just some good ol’ fashion mat pics.

Meena

Ohh I hope I’m spelling her name right.  You may recognize Meena from a couple of sessions ago with her family.  Well we snuck inside the next day for a little extra one on one Meena time to capture this precious time.

Annelies

Last time I saw Annelies, she was pregnant with her second.  This was supposed to be pregnancy photos but as we all know, we just can not plan everything and some things happen sooner than we expect.  For those of you who have been with me for a while, you will remember I used to have a studio at the Centre for Creative Arts (before it got inundated with other artists that is).  I headed back to my old stomping grounds to take advantage of those huge windows that fill the room with natural light while my new studio is under construction.  Yes, I did say my new studio, but I’ll save that discussion for another day!  Ohhh the suspense!

Randy & Sasha

The library has more to offer than a great selection of books.  The area outside is so unique and happens to be a great backdrop for family pics.  We even managed to find some  trees that still had colorful leaves on them.

Leigh & Chandelle

I have enjoyed taking family pics for Leigh and Chandelle for a few years.  I was so happy to hear our family session was growing this year with the addition of Chandelle’s extended family.  The melting snow put a damper on our fall pics so they opted to make the switch to an urban look.  We headed to one of my fav brick walls in GP and played around.  We even threw some snowballs around … with the little bit of snow still in existence on Saturday!  I absolutely love capturing generations in family photos.  Moms and daughters or gramdparents and their grandkids, it is just so heart warming!

Dion and Chantel

For the lucky few that booked their fall sessions early, we were graced with sunshine and the ground was covered in big leaves.  So beautiful and captive of fall at it’s best.  Don’t get me wrong, I love snow, just not this early.  Now everything is all soggy … boo hoo!

Andre & Amber

I love taking pics in peoples homes as I like the idea of incorporating their own style into their images.  What better way to do that than in your own home.  I did add a little mini studio in their kitchen, only because the lighting was just so fabulous in there!

Tony & Martha

This cute couple came all the way from LaCrete to have their one year anniversary pics done.  I get so excited every time Martha sends me an e-mail because I’m sure as soon as I see Martha in my inbox that Martha Stewart has heard of my fine attention to detail while hosting that she wants to come to Canada (I’m sorry but she really is my idol).  That has yet to pan out for me.  Seriously though, I love these images with the sun setting.  It is one of my favorites as it is such a soft light that makes peoples skin simply glow.  This was at 7pm last night and I would recommend that time of day this time of year.  That and early morning has the same effect except I haven’t had my coffee yet that early in the morning and it would appear you were having your pictures with a bear that a photographer … so I’ll stick to the evening shoots.

It was a pleasure to photograph you two last night!  Hope you are having safe travels back today!

Kristy’s family and extended crew

What a beautiful (and really hot) day in the park we had on Sunday.  We did Kristy’s entire family including parents and brother down by the river and then headed up the bank to play around in the trees with the kids.  I just have to point out what a good choice of clothing this is and when people ask me and I say you don’t necessarily all have to wear the same color but it should be in the same tones and you can have groupings that match (ie. the grand parents), it adds some variety but keeps it cohesive too.  So great job Kristy and family!

Nadine

Nadine brought her family in for some pics of their new baby girl Josie.  When babies are getting fed or changed, I like to snag their older siblings for a little mini shoot.  Well little Rowan had a little surprise for me.  Rowan and her kitty that is.  She starting posing like she was meant to be a model.  I’m just going to throw this out there but maybe just maybe a career option for the future!

It was wonderful to see you all again!
